In 2004, David Mayer, MD gathered patient safety leaders from around the world to discuss the creation of a patient safety curriculum for medical students, nursing students and resident physicians. The Telluride Patient Safety Roundtable laid groundwork for a patient safety training program and curriculum that would later become the foundation for the Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety (AELPS): The Telluride Experience.
Telluride sessions are now held in Breckenridge, CO, Napa, CA, Washington DC, Doha, Qatar and Sydney, Australia. In 2016, 3-day Healthcare Leader Patient Safety Immersion Workshops were added in Phoenix.
