Organized by medical residents in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore regions who were inspired after attending a Telluride Experience session in 2013, the Quality Improvement Patient Safety (QIPS) Council aims to keep patient safety and quality top of mind for resident physicians by hosting engaging speakers and programs for continuing education. The Council brings residents together quarterly from hospitals across the mid-atlantic region, including MedStar Health and University of Maryland, to discuss quality improvement projects and patient safety initiatives. The Council is eager to collaborate with residents from across the area, and those interested should reach out for an application below.
The QIPS Council’s biannual Wine and Wisdom Event attracts national speakers on safety and quality, and are the hallmark gatherings of the year. The resident-run group receives support from both MedStar Health and Patient Safety Education Partnership, a Colorado-based nonprofit that focuses on training and education for residents.
