In 2004, David Mayer, MD gathered patient safety leaders from around the world to discuss the creation of a patient safety curriculum for medical students, nursing students and resident physicians. The Telluride Patient Safety Round Table laid groundwork for a patient safety training program and curriculum that would later become the foundation for the Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety (AELPS): The Telluride Experience.
Telluride sessions are now held in Breckenridge, Colorado, Napa, California, Washington, D.C., Doha, Qatar, and Sydney, Australia. Telluride Patient Safety Training Sessions are open to resident physicians, healthcare leaders, and medical and nursing students.
